The BAFE SP205 Validator is a key member of Salvum Limited’s fire safety and compliance team, reporting directly to the Company Directors. The role is central to maintaining the quality, consistency, and compliance of fire risk assessments produced by the business in accordance with the BAFE SP205 Third-Party Accreditation Scheme.
The post holder will be primarily responsible for the technical validation and quality assurance of fire risk assessments, undertaking on-site fire risk assessments for approximately two days per week, and liaising directly with clients to provide clear, proportionate fire safety advice. The role also plays an important part in supporting Salvum Limited’s ongoing compliance with BAFE SP205 requirements, including participation in external audits.
This position is home-based, with regional travel required for site assessments, audits, and client meetings. Attendance at occasional head office meetings will also be expected.
Undertake technical validation and review of fire risk assessments to ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, relevant guidance, British Standards, and the BAFE SP205 scheme requirements.
Carry out on-site fire risk assessments approximately two days per week across a range of commercial and residential premises.
Act as a BAFE SP205 Validator, ensuring assessments meet required competency, quality, and consistency standards prior to issue.
Liaise directly with clients to:
Discuss findings and recommendations.
Provide clear, practical, and proportionate fire safety advice.
Respond to technical queries relating to fire risk assessment outcomes.
Provide technical input and clarification during the BAFE SP205 audit process, including preparation for and participation in external audits.
Identify non-conformities, trends, and areas for improvement within fire risk assessment outputs and report findings to Directors.
Maintain accurate records in line with company procedures and accreditation requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and industry best practice through continued professional development.
The ideal candidate will be a competent, detail-focused fire safety professional with strong communication skills and confidence engaging directly with clients at a technical level.
A nationally recognised 5-day Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
A minimum of 3 years’ practical experience undertaking fire risk assessments.
Demonstrable experience in the technical review and validation of fire risk assessments.
A thorough understanding of the fire risk assessment process and recognised national competency criteria for Fire Risk Assessors.
Experience assessing a wide range of premises, including:
Commercial properties
Complex and multi-use buildings
High-rise residential buildings
Residential care premises
Strong and current knowledge of:
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
Approved Document B
Relevant British Standards, including BS 9999
Ability to provide clear, proportionate, and defensible advice to clients.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and company IT systems.
Full, clean UK driving licence.
Membership of a recognised professional body such as IFSM or IFE.
Previous involvement in BAFE SP205 accreditation or audit processes.

This includes access to British Standards Online, funded fire safety training where appropriate, and structured CPD opportunities, with a target of a minimum of 25 CPD hours per year, recorded within the company CPD system.
